Born in Marghera on 16 August 1955, he studied at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. From an early age he combined his studies with a strong passion for sport, playing competitive volleyball with Cus Venezia for five years, two of them in the Serie B championship.
In 1990 he took over the Panificio Gorghetto Massimo bakery, which he ran with steadfast dedication until 2022, building up solid experience in the artisan food sector over the years. Alongside his business commitments, he held numerous representative and senior roles within the main trade organisations: he was President of the Venice and Province Bakers’ Association, President of the Unione Panificatori del Veneto (Veneto Bakers’ Union) and National Vice-President of ASSIPAN. He was also a member of Ambassadeur du Pain Italia, helping to promote the tradition and quality of breadmaking.
His commitment also extended to the economic and associative life of the area, where he served as President of Confcommercio Mestre. In recognition of his contribution to the community, he was awarded the title of Cavaliere di San Marco (Knight of St Mark).
Alongside his professional and institutional activities, he has always nurtured a deep interest in social causes, standing out for his commitment both personally and through the associations to which he has belonged.
